Check Overview​

What is this check?​

As far as search engines are concerned there are two states, Indexable and Not Indexable. With most sites you want the site to be fully indexable. This check ensures that setting doesn't change.

Why is this important?​

Installing the wrong plugin that sets your robots.txt to disallow * or accidentally enabling indexing on the staging server are things we see all the time and without monitoring before you know it, damage has been done which can take months to recover from.

Advanced Usage​

Default Rules​

The default setting of Little Warden will expect the URL to be indexable via three settings - robots.txt, x-robots and meta robots, to be compliant with this you usually don't have to change anything!

But I don't want it indexed!​

If you have a staging or development server that you DON'T want indexed then just switch it to "NOT INDEXABLE".

Good news! You can select individual settings for indexability, if you do require this, PLEASE let us know why because we cannot for the life of us think of a single reason why but someone asked for it and so we built it.
