What is this check?​

The 404 check simply looks at a random URL on your website and checks to see if the page response is actually 404 or not.

Why is this important?​

Sometimes a 404 page can return a status code 200 (we call that a "Soft 404") and if that happens then all trouble can begin as how do search engines know what is a real page and what is an error.

Advanced Usage​

Default Rules​

The 404 Check only has one configurable option which is the ability to change the URL that we check (if for instance our default URL just so happens to be a working page on your website).
